Number rounder tool What is a number rounder?
This is a browser-based online utility for rounding numbers. Rounding a number means to approximate it with another, usually less precise number. This is done to make the number easier to perceive and use. We offer four rounding modes – up, down, nearest, and half. The first two round numbers up and down. Rounding up is also known as ceiling and it means to round numbers to the next largest value. Rounding down is also known as flooring and it means to round numbers to the next smallest value. For example, the number 2.67 rounds up to 2.7 and rounds down to 2.6. The third one rounds numbers towards the nearest neighbor. For example, 2.67 rounds to nearest value 2.7 (given precision 1). In this mode, if the number ends with a 5 or greater, then it is rounded up, otherwise, it's rounded down. The fourth one rounds numbers to a half. That means rounding to the nearest 0 or 5. For example, 2.67 rounds half to 2.5. In the precision option, you can specify which digit in the fraction or integer part to round the number to. You can round fractions to tenths (precision set to 1), hundredths (precision = 2), thousandths (precision = 3) and so on, and integers to ones (precision = 0), tens (precision = -1), hundreds (precision = -2), and so on. Round Numbers Up
In this example, we ceil five numbers with the precision of 3 decimal digits. That is, each number is rounded towards the nearest larger value with the precision of one hundredth. For example, the first number 60.36429289 is rounded to 60.365 because it has the value of 0.004 in the hundreds decimal position. Rounding it up by one hundredth increases it to 0.005. All other digits in the fraction are discarded because of the precision 3.

Round Numbers to a Half
In this example, we round three numbers to a half. The precision here is set to 2, which means the numbers are rounded to 0 or 5 at the second decimal position. Whether they're rounded to 0 or 5 depends on which value they are closer to. For example, the number 2.366 has the second digit in the fraction equal to 6. The closest half-value to it is 5, therefore 2.35 is obtained.

Round Integers to Nearest Tens
In this example, we round nine integers to the nearest tens. The value "-1" in the precision field indicates that rounding is for tens. The second digit in all integers is rounded to the nearest neighboring value, and all digits to the right become zeros.
